This series of paintings called "If these Masks could talk" is a collection of vibrant figurative paintings inspired by African masks and sculptures. African masks & sculptures have always been a fascinating source of inspiration for my work. The wide range of colors, shapes and materials lend to a unique symbolism for me. The masks and sculptures are so powerful they are full of culture, history and represent various spiritual beings, deities and ancestors. When I incorporate the mask into my art I am presenting it as a figurative subject. Redefining them in a new way. I paint with vibrant colors to capture a feeling or emotion and bring it to life.
